The Conventions of a Horror Trailer!!

Settings: This trailer is set in peoples homes giving the impression that no where is safe. The tall buildings at the beginning of the trailer shows that it is set in a city, this tells us that even though there is people all around the killer wants us to know that it is un safe. At one point in the trailer we do see a  abandend Juvinial centreand this was were the killer spent most of his life as he was seen as a troubled child.
Technical Code: There is lots of camera movements during this trailer. The handheld camera technique is used so that it would show the panic of the vitim and helps us the audience relate to this. There is some extreme close up so that the audience knows who the vitims is, this is also to show us their emotions. Point of view shot is used quite a few times so that the audience is put in the shoes of either the killer of the victims. Being put in the shoes of one of the characters really helps the audience get involved with the movie, so that they are more scared as they feel like it happening to them.
Iconography: Never see the killer face as he is in darkness and shines light directly in the vitims (the audiences) eyes so his identity is hidden. Shiney the light on his victims so that we see them clearly. High lighting behind him to create shadows of the killer. Uses a hand made time hour glass to time 1 minute using his own blood. Weapons are everyday tools like cutters, knife and welding tool. Seen as the insent child to begin with then changes dramaticlly as he is told he could be set free from the isalam.
Narrative Structure: Goes through the story getting revenge on everyone who treated the killer badly whilst telling the main protagonist what happened and how it involves her. finally gets the last girl on aniversary of 'their' mothers death. False closure then cliff hanger at the end.  
Character Types: Main Protagonist is a woamn who works hard at college, is smart and final girl.
The killer is psychotic kills his victims according to what went on in his past. Hidden by darkness.
Police not very good at their job as killer kills main protagonist father who is police, steals police car and kills with police all around.
Victims they seem to have alot more than the killer does, effected his past as he was treated badly and not well looked after.
Themes: Return of the repression as he kills victims according to his past and how they affected him or treated him badly. During this clip we see the hidden evil in side the killer as he makes his victims choose between two difficult choses in a really sick gory way.
